How do RangeSafe Stove Safety Knobs™ work?

RangeSafe Stove Safety Knobs™ are designed to reduce the risk of accidental actuation of a stove and to meet the standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act.

RangeSafe Stove Safety Knobs™ are permanent stove safety knobs with an integrated locking mechanism. RangeSafe Stove Safety Knobs™ operate in a manner similar to traditional stove knobs, however there is an additional unique third step. Slightly pushing in the sides of the knob unlocks it, which then allows the knob to be pressed forward and turned on. We call this set of motions “Push, Press and Turn™”.

The three-step process helps reduce the risk of accidental actuation that comes from people unintentionally bumping into or brushing a knob, pets searching for food on a stove top and unattended children playing with a stove knob.

Will RangeSafe Stove Safety Knobs™ fit the different stove brands and models across our properties?

Accepted Answer

RangeSafe Stove Safety Knobs™ work with most makes and models of gas and electric stoves. RangeSafe’s Commercial Solutions Team will work with you to run a compatibility assessment before you make a purchase. We will ask for the stove make and model, plus photos of the existing knobs and control panel, including a close-up photo of an exposed stem. RangeSafe will then advise which stove safety knob model is best suited for your situation. If your portfolio of properties has multiple makes and models of stoves, we will work with you to identify whether different stove safety knob models are required.

Can our engineering or maintenance team install RangeSafe Stove Safety Knobs™, and what does installation involve?

Accepted Answer

In most cases yes. The knobs are designed to be installed by your own engineering or maintenance staff with no appliance modifications or wiring required. The knobs push onto the existing stem, with insert extensions provided where a stove requires them. Installation takes approximately a minute or two per stove. RangeSafe provides written instructions with every order, as well as instructional videos on the Resources section of the commercial website for additional information. If required, the RangeSafe Commercial Solutions Team will be happy to assist you by telephone or live video.

How are commercial orders priced for multiple suites or properties?

Commercial orders start with a conversation with RangeSafe’s Commercial Solutions Team. Share with us the appliances and the number of suites or properties and we build a proposal, with volume pricing discussed depending on the size of the current and future orders, with minimum quantities confirmed up front.

Which RangeSafe product is right for our properties?

RangeSafe’s Commercial Solutions Team will be able to walk you through the various products and which are most appropriate for your appliances and the needs of your guests. For example, where children or guests with cognitive disabilities are a concern, we recommend the RangeSafe Ultimate Stove Safety Knob™ four-step locking knob, and where control spacing is tight, we can recommend the Compact body.

How will RangeSafe change the way guests use their stoves?

RangeSafe Stove Safety Knobs™ operate in a manner similar to traditional stove knobs, however there is an additional unique third step. Most users of stoves are already familiar with this set of motions and using RangeSafe Stove Safety Knobs™ does not complicate the natural motion of turning on a stove.

What maintenance and replacement planning should we expect?

RangeSafe Stove Safety Knobs™ are low maintenance. Clean them as you would any knob, inspect them during routine housekeeping visits and check them at unit turnover. The knobs carry a product warranty (when properly installed and not exposed to prolonged extreme heat or harsh chemicals). Replacement knobs are available, so worn or missing knobs can be swapped without replacing the whole set.

Can we roll out RangeSafe one property at a time?

Accepted Answer

Yes, purchasing and installation can be phased property-by-property, so you can start with one hotel and expand across the portfolio. We coordinate across properties with different appliances, so each phase receives the right knobs.

Accepted Answer

Yes, RangeSafe’s Commercial Solutions Team provides complimentary consulting and can assist in creating a pre-purchase pilot program and with the preparation of board-level business case presentations.
